CLARITY,
SIMPLICITY
STORY BY Judy Arginteanu
E
ven though Michael J. Schunke, Nicholas Kekic, and
Dan Mirer have traveled different paths to becom e
glass artists, they all say this: O nce they tried working
with glass, they were hooked.
The reasons are as varied as the material itself, but for each of
them, the lure of this dynamic, seductive material - not to mention
its sheer beauty - has never lost its quicksilver magic.
And happily so. Glass' possibilities are largely limited only by
the skill and imagination of each artist, and for these three, in
the prime of their creative careers, those limits are few. Whether
making functional pieces, sculptural objects, or a seamless fusion
of both, their daily work in the studio with this versatile, chal-
lenging material continues to ground them, providing a constant
source of deep satisfaction and ongoing discovery.
